Jupiter Animation:
From 7 Hubble Space Telescope Orbits in
October 1995
2.3 Mb Quicktime Movie
Also a 825 Kb MPEG Movie
This animation of Jupiter rotating a full 360
degrees was made from data taken by Reta Beebe
(NMSU) and Amy Simon (Cornell U.) in October 1995.
Nearly 70 HST images recorded Jupiter's rotation
over the course of 11 hours. These images were
projected into flat global maps then reprojected
onto a sphere. The resulting 36 framed animation
shows how Jupiter's surface appearance changes
in increments of 10 degrees.
