Maria Polletta
Maria Polletta is currently a post-doc at the
Observatory of
Geneva where she works with the High Energy
Group at the Integral
Science Data Centre. Maria was born in Caracas,
Venezuela, and moved to Italy during her childhood.
She received her undergraduate degree in physics
at the University
of Bologna and her Ph.D. in astrophysics at
the University
of Geneva. She studied active galactic nuclei,
with a particular interest in their X-ray and infrared
properties. Maria spent a year during her Ph.D.
at CalTech (Pasadena,
CA) researching on the properties of the interstellar
medium and star formation in galaxies. She believes
that behind every astronomer there is a child's
dream. |
