Jason Harris is a postdoctoral researcher at the
Space Telescope Science Institute.
He was born in northern Illinois, but managed to
escape to the University of Arizona for his undergraduate
work. He found Steward Observatory to be an excellent
environment for learning the art and science of
observational astronomy.
In 1995, having earned B.S. degrees in physics
and astronomy, Jason headed to the University of
California, Santa Cruz for graduate school. His
string of institutional good fortune continued:
the Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics at
UCSC was an extremely exciting and rewarding place
to be a graduate student. He completed his Ph.D.
thesis ("Stellar Populations in the Magellanic
Clouds") in December, 2000.
The position at STScI is his first postdoctoral
appointment.
