Jennifer Carson
Jennifer Carson is a third year graduate student
in Astronomy
at UCLA. She received BS from MIT and a MS in
physics from San Francisco State University. For
her Master's thesis at SFSU, she used these Hubble
Space Telescope images combined with X-ray images
from the ROSAT observatory to search for cataclysmic
variables in Omega Centauri. Her recent research
includes rest-frame optical spectroscopy of high
redshift radio galaxies using the NIRSPEC spectrograph
on the Keck II telescope. Currently, as a new member
of the Solar
Tower Atmospheric Cherenkov Event Experiment
(STACEE) team, she is beginning astroparticlephysics
research with Rene Ong studying the gamma ray emission
from blazars. She is interested in both the high
energy emission mechanisms themselves and gamma
ray absorption by the cosmic infrared background.
