Marcella Carollo
I was born in Sicily, and obtained my Master degree
("Laurea") in Biophysics at the University
in my home town, Palermo. I later decided to follow
my dream of a research career in Astrophysics. I
went to Munich and studied for my Ph.D. in Astrophysics
at the Ludwig-Maximilians Universitaet. After holding
a European Fellowship at the Leiden Observatory,
I came to the US in 1996 with a three-year Hubble
Fellowship, which I held at the Johns Hopkins University,
in Baltimore. Afterwards, I moved to the Big Apple
as an Assistant Professor at Columbia University.
I have recently moved back to Europe, taking up
a new position as Professor at the Swiss Federal
Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETHZ). I am looking
forward to continuing to study the amazing beauty
of the galaxies from the terrestrial beauty of Switzerland. |
