Christopher Gerardy
Christopher Gerardy is a graduate student in the
Department of Physics and
Astronomy at Dartmouth College. He received a B.S.
in astronomy from the California Institute of Technology
(Caltech) in 1996, and has been at Dartmouth college
since then. Working closely with his advisor Dr.
Robert Fesen, Chris has worked on a number of projects
studying supernovae and their remnants including
several observing programs with the Hubble Space
Telescope (HST).
Chris is currently finishing his Ph.D. thesis,
a survey of the near-infrared spectra of all types
of supernovae. For the collection of his thesis
data, Chris spent a total of almost five months
observing supernovae with the 2.4 m Hiltner telescope
at MDM observatory on Kitt Peak in Arizona. In the
fall of 2002, Chris will be moving to Austin where
he will begin working at the University of Texas
as a W. J. McDonald Postdoctoral Fellow. |
