What is happening?

By adjusting the hue, one can slide the starting colors around the color wheel keeping them equidistant (equal distant) from each other. If the starting colors were pure red, pure green and pure blue, a hue adjustment can rotate the colors around the color wheel, giving a different look and feel to the image.
