Pillars and Jets in the Carina Nebula Mosaic from the Hubble Telescope

The above image shows a 2007 ACS mosaic of the Carina Nebula. The Keyhole Nebula appears left of center. Click for a labeled map of the region. HH 901/902 is the bright area to the right of, and slightly up from center.

Herbig-Haro objects, HH 901 and HH 902, show evidence of star formation embedded in pillars.

Each Herbig-Haro object has a pair of jets that produce bow shocks as fast-moving material ploughs into ambient medium.
