There is no up or down in space, however, some astronomical images do not "appear" correct when rotated or viewed from a certain orientation. Look at the following orientations (rotations) of NGC 2841, and see which image feels correct. Place the mouse over the images, inclusing the final one with an explanation of why Hubble Heritage image processors felt the orientation we chose provided the "best picture."

Note that the reference to the cardinal directions ("North Up," "East Up", etc.) refer to how the objects are projected in our Earth-based sky. No image in this sample has been inverted (flipped).
